Good things come unexpected. The more you don’t expect it, the better things can turn out. So, they say!
I couldn’t describe and still can’t find a word to define the way I felt when I saw BooMan’s message on Facebook. So, my boyfriend’s in a restricted place where I would not really guess he would contact me via any media available. Somehow, he’s managed to find time to message me on facebook. Simple and short saying he thought of me every minute and that he loves me. I looked at it and once again, I turned into this crying queen in my office cubicle. It kills to know BooMan’s not around but yet he made sure he assured me that he’s still with me.
I would normally stay back in the office when it closes but since there wasn’t any reason I should be online since BooMan’s not around, I decided to join my colleagues to a feast of Rakhine noodles. SecondDegreeSis, LogAngel, Translator and HotChick joined in and it was pretty fun, given I rarely hang out with my workmates. MissMyanmar called SecondDegreeSis and we had a spontaneous moment where we all agreed to go to Sedona for the Friday night.
I ended up going out with MissMyanmar since SecondDegreeSis ended up being sick after those noodles. We ended up at 50 street, where we met some of my friends who were trying to force us to go to British Club. Then, MissMyanmar and I had a bitchfest about people in our office. It’s nice to know she’s pretty awesome to hang out with. The first plan was to go to DJ Bar with her friend. Then, her friend ended up going to a karaoke with his other friend, which made us come up with a plan to go to DJ Bar to use his name; ok, clubs in Burma require people to buy a bottle of liquor to get in for free. Entry charge DOES include a drink but both MissMyanmar and I do not drink so we just found it quite worth it to use his name to get in since he’s already got a bottle.
On the way to DJ Bar, I ended up calling my “only” close gay friend in Myanmar, NOL. NOL was already with his fag group. NOL is one of those early gay dudes in Myanmar who started the whole controversial “we are fags but we work hard and we’re people of class” saga. I knew him through DoubleA’s wife and since then he and I hit it off, given he does respect me as well. When I finally met his group of fags, I could see what was so good about that group. Everyone in the group was either of high professions, (Radio station manager, Airline manager, etc) or those gay boys/men in Myanmar who seemed to be lost but still have the potential to live life large and worthy. I guess this group could actually prove those Myanmar people wrong, who thinks being gay is low or dirty. Think again! We like our shit pretty pricy!!
MissMyanmar and I joined NOL and his fag train to YGN bar, where we partied. We met Designer with her best friend (who happened to be MissMyanmar’s friend) and her brother and StrandBoy. I never knew the gay scene in Myanmar was this popular but it was great to see how active Burmese gay boys are prancing their skinny jeaned legs to Korean remix. And the whole Korean look alike was just ridiculously funny. After a weird tribute to the late make up gay artist (who died the day before) and a lot of picture taking and partying, MissMyanmar and I retired and went home around 1am.
Early day for me but it was a good day. Who would have thought those things mentioned above would happen today!!
